Share a Story

Stories help us understand where we come from and where we’re going.

Personal essays and lived experiences from ABC Next Gen, parents, and families, shared across generations.

Stories at GAM come from real life.
They may be reflective or light, deeply personal or quietly ordinary.

Some stories stand alone. Some are shared across generations.
All are rooted in lived experience.

What Stories at GAM Often Explore

- Academic & Career Journeys

High school, college, graduate school, and early career decisions
Uncertainty, pressure, growth, and change along the way

- Family & Generational Reflections

Parent–child perspectives on shared experiences
Memory, misunderstanding, reconciliation, and care

- Everyday Life Moments

Family routines, travel, food, hobbies, conversations
Small moments that later felt meaningful

Stories may focus on academic paths, personal growth, or family life - often all at once.

Length & Format (Flexible)

Most stories are ~500 words
Short reflections or longer narratives are welcome if the story calls for it
Photos are optional and may be included if they add meaning

Stories do not need to be polished - only honest.

Share a Video

Some moments are better felt than explained.

Videos at GAM capture lived experiences - voices, faces, movements, and moments that unfold in real time.

They may be personal reflections, family scenes, conversations, or everyday life — shared simply and honestly.

Videos can stand alone or connect to written stories.
They can be quiet or expressive, polished or spontaneous.

Videos do not need to be scripted or cinematic — authenticity matters most.

Length & Format (Flexible)

Most videos are 1–5 minutes
Short clips or longer reflections are both welcome
Filmed on a phone or camera - professional equipment is not required

They may be handmade, collected, preserved, or created over time.
Each treasure carries a story, whether spoken or quietly understood.

How GAM Handles Contributions

Review with Care
All submissions are reviewed by the GAM team to ensure respect, safety, and alignment with our community values.

Creator Ownership
You keep full ownership of your work.
By contributing, you grant GAM permission to display your content on the GAM platform with proper credit.
GAM does not sell, license, or reuse your work outside the platform without your explicit permission.

Copyright & Permissions
By submitting, you confirm that you are the creator of the content or have permission to share it.
For photos, writing, videos, or external links, contributors remain responsible for the rights to their work.

Thoughtful Curation
Selected contributions may be highlighted on GAM pages, newsletters, or special features - always with credit and respect for the original creator.
